"We are but custodians of our heritage. It is our
duty to protect and preserve our inheritance so that it may be said by
future generations that we were worthy trustees."
The Broadstairs Society was founded in 1964 with
the aim to protect the charm and character of Broadstairs & St
Peters and its future.
This aim is achieved by:
- encouraging high standards of architecture and
town planning
- stimulating interest in and care for the beauty,
history and character of the Town and its surroundings
- encouraging the preservation, development and
improvement of features of general public amenity or historic interest
- pursuing these ends by means of meetings,
exhibitions, lectures, publications, other forms of instructions and
publicity and promotion of schemes of a charitable nature.
Membership of The Broadstairs Society is open to
all who are interested in and wish to support these aims. If, after
reading on, you would like to join The Society, see Membership. Details of The
Broadstairs Society Officers and Committee members can be found at Organisation. The Society
has membership of several committees of The Town Council
and the District Council and seeks to ensure that the needs and wishes
of Broadstairs & St Peters are fully represented.
